15 Surprising Benefits of Lemon Peel For Skin and Body Care

1. Treats Acne

What you will need:

  • Lemon Peel and Juice
  • Grater
  • Coldwater
  1. Take one lemon and grate the outer cover.
  2. Squeeze the juice into a bowl and mix the lemon peel with it.
  3. Rub this mixture onto your skin, massage it for some time and leave it.
  4. After about 20 minutes, you need to wash it off with cold water.

When using this method twice or three times a day can help to get rid of acne completely.

2. Works as a Nail Cleanser

  3. Cover the jar. Let it sit in a dark place for two weeks (the longer you let it sit, the more citrus will infuse into the vinegar).
  4. After waiting two weeks, you will want to strain the citrus cleaner by using a fine-mesh sieve placed over a large bowl and discard the peels.
  5. Add the leftover liquid to a spray bottle and use it as you would use any typical all-purpose cleaner.

5. Use as Sugar Scrub

It is the perfect replacement for a sugar scrub, it will allow your skin to get the right treatment, and it will smell great!

What you will need:

  • ½ cup raw brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped, semi sun-dried lemon peel (to get this just leave your lemon peel in the sun for a day or two)
  • 4 TBSP of olive oil
  • 3 drops of orange essential oil (optional)
  1. Add the lemon peel and brown sugar into a blender and mix for a few seconds. If you blend it for too long, it’ll start to get soggy and turn into more of a paste.
  2. Put the mixture in a bowl and mix in the olive oil and essential oil. You will want to do this using a spatula, mix until it forms into a rough paste.
  3. Scoop the mixture into a container and put it in the fridge.

How to use:

  1. Gently massage the scrub on wet skin.
  2. Rinse and wash with soap/shower gel.
  3. Dry your skin with a towel.

  • Brown Paper Bag

  1. Dry the lemon peels on a sheet pan.
  2. After the lemon peels are dried out toss them in a brown paper bag with a stray silica packet (this will help to keep them fresh).

8. Microwave Cleaner

This method of cleaning the microwave will make it easier than ever to clean it. Typically cleaning a microwave is hard due to how the food is caked on and hard to remove. This method, although make it almost effortless to get a clean microwave!

What you will need:

  • Lemon Peels
  • Microwave Safe Bowl
  • Water
  • Paper Towel or Cloth
  1. Put the lemon peels in a microwave-safe bowl.
  2. Fill the bowl with lemon peels with water so that it just covers the peels.
  3. Place the bowl in your microwave. Set the timer to 5 minutes.
  4. After the timer goes off, you need to let the bowl sit in the microwave with the door shut for around 2 minutes (this will allow the steam trapped inside to loosen the food residue).
  5. Take the bowl out and wipe it down with a paper towel or cloth to clean it.

9. Lemon Peel Can Deodorize Garbage Disposals

Having a bad-smelling garbage disposal can be one of the worst things for your kitchen. But who knew that using lemon peels could leave it fresh and without any lingering odors?

  • Tongs
  • 2 cups of ice
  • 1 cup of rock salt
  • 4-6 Lemon Peels
  1. Make sure that you turn off the power switch.
  2. Use tongs to remove any non-disposable items that may be stuck inside.
  3. Fill the disposal with the ice and rock salt.
  4. Turn the disposal on and run cold water for about five seconds.
  5. Plug your sink and fill it with 2 to 4 inches of water with the garbage disposal on (this will help purge the drain line ensuring all the waste has gone through the drain).
  6. Put the lemons and run cold water through the appliance.
